Gonzalo Higuain has apologised to Juventus fans after Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Lazio in the Supercoppa.
Higuain failed to score as Juve’s comeback from 2-0 down was ultimately in vain, but the striker promised supporters a “fantastic year if we’re together.”
“I wanted to apologise to the Juve fans for yesterday’s match. They deserve more than this, I know we can do more, and we must do more,” he wrote on Instagram.
“But this is only the beginning, and now more than ever we need your love because we’re so much stronger if we’re together.
“I promise that we’ll have a fantastic year together. Thank you very much for being there, but we can only reverse this [result] if we’re together.
“Thank you for being there. See you soon, and we’ll do our best together. A big hug.”
