A lecturer at the University of Lagos, Mr. Adetokunbo Pearse has described the Muhammadu Buhari- led administration as one “characterized by falsehood, hypocrisy, and lies.”
He made this known while appearing on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday.
His comments come moments after the Adamawa State Information Commissioner, Mr. Ahmad Sajoh praised the military in its efforts of restoring peace less than a day after suspected Boko Haram members engaged the troops in a gun battle.
But reacting, Mr. Pearse who is also a member of the People’s Democratic Party, wondered why the Commissioner could not ascertain the casualty figures, yet say the military restored peace in the troubled region.
“I heard the Commissioner for Information in Adamawa trying to give us the impression that all is well, that the military has been able to curb the insurgency and the scam.
“He does not know the number of casualties, he is lying. He says we are dealing with it immediately. This thing happened yesterday, you haven’t spoken to the people who suffered.
“You have not given us casualty (figures), you don’t know how many people died or you would care for,” he added.
The PDP member further accused the Federal Government of reneging on its promises to the people of the Niger-Delta region, a situation he attributed to their perceived unpreparedness upon assuming power in 2015.
